Discussion In the present study, we comprehensively investigated transcriptional modifications related with biological aging in adult mouse testis. In earlier reports, sperm parameters and the morphology of testicular somatic cells were analyzed in consecutive age groups of different mammalian species, which includes humans [1,19], canines [21], and murine species [17]. Further studies investigated aging-related testicular modifications inside the context of epigenetic modification and gene expression [18,20]. Here, we employed total RNA sequencing to reveal the profiles of transcripts, such as both mRNAs and lncRNAs, in mouse testes of many age groups (3M, 6M, 12M, and 18M). We identified a total of 31,386 mRNAs and 9387 lncRNAs inside the testes.
